Long distance wireless links
are mostly required in case there is signifiant amount of space between two nodes (points) that the link is supposed to be established. In order to have a success while linking two points (PtP link – point ot point link) it is wise to obtain a strobo light. Why ? Well, within few kilometers human eye is able to see a lot, but long distance links will require more than that.
That’s why the strobo light is useful. It makes the other node visable after sunset as soon as it is up, so there is no confusion where the antenna needs to be pointing at.
Also, it shows straight away if there is any object in between the nodes. In case there is something in between, the 900MHz solution has to be used. The 2.4 and 5GHz solutions will work only when there is clear line of sight (and the Fresnel zone).
High speed long distance links will require 802.11n in 5GHz frequency due to the overcrowded 2.4GHz networks. There is no point in setting up another network that won’t work. Get your wireless gear here, be fast and stable.
